Getting to Abancay

Overview: Abancay is the most important city in the Apurímac Region of Peru and also the capital of Abancay Province. It has beautiful views with palms and despite its only 57.000 inhabitants, it has 3 universities. The archaeological site of Sayhuite is also nearby.

Latitude: 13º 38' S

Longitude: 72º 53' W

By Air: If you must fly, then try Cuzco's airport, which is closer, but Ayacucho's airport could be an another (further located) alternative.

By Rail: There are no rail networks touching Abancay.

By Road: There are 3 main roads that lead to Abancay. On from Nazca, one from Cuzco and one from Ayacucho. Certainly, Abancay is also connected to towns and villages in the area through smaller roads.
