Getting to Aguas Calientes

Overview: The town is located deep in the Urubamba Valley, just 8-9 km (5.5 mi) from the ruins of Machu Picchu, therefore Aguas Calientes has grown to become an important spot in the area, living primarily out of tourism and trade.

Latitude: 13º 09' 17.92" S

Longitude: 72º 31' 26.08" W

By Air: There are sometimes helicopter flights from Cuzco.

By Rail: Several trains arrive to Aguas Calientes per day from Cuzco, but there are rail connections in the direction of the town of Santa Teresa (northwest of Aguas Calientes).

By Road: It is possible to get to Aguas Calientes by road from Santa Teresa, but there are no direct roads to Cuzco, not even Ollantaytambo. The connection for road vehicles is towards the north, in the direction of Santa Teresa. There might be several forest roads, though.
