Getting to Choquequirao

Overview: Ancient Inca ruins that are sometimes compared to the more impressive Machu Picchu. Choquequirao is less frequently visited by tourists than Machu Picchu and other places in the Cuzco and Sacred Valley area. This is also due to its faraway location from Cuzco.

GPS Coordinates:

Latitude: 13° 23' 0" S

Longitude: 72° 53' 0" W

By Air: Cuzco and Ayacucho have airports. You can fly to those cities and then take a road vehicle to Abancay and from there north to Cachora, then further to Choquequirao.

By Rail: There are no rail travel possibilities to Choquequirao.

By Road: It can be approached from Cachora (north of the bigger town called Abancay) or from the Yanama town.
