Getting to Maras

Overview: Rarely visited village in the proximity of the Vilcanota River, south of the town of Urubamba. Maras is close to the Moray archaeological site and the Salinas salt pools (salt mines).

Latitude: 13º 20' 10.38" S

Longitude: 72º 09' 24.32" W

By Air: You can fly in to Cuzco's airport and transfer to this town by road vehicle. Though, there aren't many vehicles leaving from Cuzco to Maras (which is a very small, less significant travel destination).

By Rail: The railway line that links Cuzco and Aguas Calientes runs several kilometers/miles west of Maras, but is quite far away. There is no railway station in the near proximity of Maras. You will have to travel to Ollantaytambo or Anta or Cuzco, for example, if you want to travel by train.

By Road: Roads link the town with multiple towns and the city of Cuzco, but Maras is located a bit inland, behind hills, so not near crossroads. The village is not in the way of the mainstream transportation lines, as it is located slightly behind hills.
