Getting to Puno
Overview: Puno is the biggest and most important city near Lake Titicaca. It has over 100.000 inhabitants and has its own airport. GPS Coordinates: Latitude: 15° 50' 36" S Longitude: 70° 01' 25" W By Air: Through Juliaca Inca Manco Cápac Airport (JUL), which is only a 30 minute bus ride away from Puno/Lake Titicaca. Arequipa, Cuzco, Lima are the primary destinations (the only ones in mid 2010). By Rail: Train from Cuzco arrives 3 times per week: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday. Sometimes, in peak periods, they also operate on Thursdays. Usually there are not passenger trains to Arequipa, only periodically, so we don't recommend you to count on this route. By Road: Puno has good connections with Juliaca, which has its own airport. Road connection to Cuzco, Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna and into Bolivia are also very good. There are daily buses to Cuzco, Arequipa and even to La Paz in Bolivia. By Ferry: There are ferries that will take you through Lake Titicaca to Bolivia's Copacabana city.
